On 1926-12-17 the Oconomowoc Ski Club opened the first 27 meter high 40 meter ski jumping hill at Devil’s Hollow, aside a smaller jump and a club house were constructed. In the following years until 1958 many competitions were hosted at Oconomowoc, at which up to 6,000 spectators travelled to the jump.
This picture shows a jumper on the smaller hill with a very quick takeoff in about 1952. The longest jump at this competition during a snowstorm was only about 16 m. Apart of it the steel-made inrun tower of the 40 meter hill can still be seen.

Ski jump in Oconomowoc
Does any one remember a ski jump located on or near the old monestary on lac la belle? Mabe fifty years ago I took my siblings down the bottom of a ski jump on cardboard refrigerator boxes as we gather now they all remember this particular event with laughter and scrapes and bruises...but I look at devils Hollow and I don't believe we walked that far away....we lived at 6184 mary lane at the time in a converted garage to a small ranch home.
