The ski jumping complex in Račeva near Žiri was built in the early 21st century as the Nordijski Center Račeva, comprising the K60, K35, K26, K15 and K8 hills. Earlier, a larger K73 hill also operated on the slope in Račeva, but it was closed and eventually dismantled around the year 2000, before the current complex of smaller hills was developed. In 2010–2011 all the hills were covered with plastic matting, allowing year-round use. The largest hill, HS 66, was officially inaugurated in 2011 with an event of the FIS Ladies Cup, and a year earlier Žiri had hosted ski jumping competitions during the World Winter Masters Games. In 2012 the OPA Games were held on the K60, during which the current hill records were set. In the following years the complex served as a youth training centre and a venue for national competitions, and several future World Championship medallists made their first jumps here.
In the second half of the 2010s the site underwent major modernisation, and on 6 October 2019 it was officially reopened as the Nordijski center Poclain. The investment included modern facilities with changing rooms, a gym, club rooms, lighting and a track-based lift to the top of the largest hill. The centre became the main training base of SSK Norica Žiri, where several dozen young athletes train.
From 2020 to 2025 the complex has been heavily used, hosting regular training sessions, training camps of foreign teams and numerous national competitions. The club also carries out continuous maintenance and upgrades, including work on smaller hills and spectator infrastructure. In the Žiri municipal event calendar, the complex remains a regular venue for prestigious local competitions such as the traditional “Pokal Žirov”, confirming that NC Poclain is now one of Slovenia’s most active training centres for the next generation of ski jumpers.
In the past, an older ski jumping complex also existed in the Račeva area; today it is no longer in use and has largely been dismantled. It included, among others, the K30 and K20 hills as well as the smaller K15 and K8, and remained in operation until around the year 2000.
In August 2023, the current NC Poclain complex was affected by the catastrophic floods in Slovenia – the lower parts of several hills and parts of the technical infrastructure were damaged. However, after clean-up and repair works, the facility was relatively quickly returned to training use.
