The 1950 built ski jumping hills in the Średnia Krokiew facility are the most important training hills for the clubs from Zakopane. In 1962, the Nordic Combined and normal hill competitions of the Nordic World Ski Championships were held there. Already in 1976, all three hills K80, K65 and K35 were equipped with plastic mattings. In 1993 and 2001 Winter-Universiade was held in Zakopane and on Średnia Krokiew hill.
During the last renovation of the facility in 2004, the old 30 meter hill called Malutka Krokiew, which was located beside the K35, was given up. Instead, the new plastic covered Adaś K15 hill, which was named after Adam Małysz, was set up on the eastern side of K85. After a lack of snow at Szczyrk the Junior WSC in 2008 were moved to Zakopane on Średnia Krokiew. During the same year, the ski jumping complex was named after Bronisław Czech, a ski jumping pioneer from Zakopane during 1930's, and a memorial board was installed at "Kompleks Średniej Krokwi im. Bronisława Czecha".
Since 2013 a modernization of the normal hill and enlargement to K95 has been planned in order to be able to again host Nordic WSC in Zakopane. Furthermore, a K25 children's hill should be built. However, the around 50m PLN (12m Euro) expensive works have been delayed multiple times for various reasons. Finally, in spring 2019 the first de-construction works have started. The converted ski jumping facility shall be completed in fall/winter 2020 in order to be able to host the Nordic Junior WSC in 2021. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, these were returned to FIS by the Polish Ski Association and will instead be held in Lahti in Finland. Średnia Krokiew shall then host the 2022 Junior WSC.
