History:

Monte Pana in Santa Cristina Val Gardena is a very important two-hill complex for youth ski jumping in Italy, consisting of HS35 and HS21, located on a picturesque plateau at about 1700 meters above sea level. The facilities were opened on 29 December 2006 as part of the new Nordic skiing center “Centro Monte Pana,” which also includes the valley’s largest cross-country area with around 30 kilometers of tracks. Equipped with plastic mats, the hills were designed from the beginning for year-round training for the athletes of the local Sci Club Gardena/Raiffeisen.
The complex is called “Trampolino I Sauc,” which in the Ladin language means “the jumps.” The larger hill now bears the full name “Trampolino I Sauc – Simona Senoner,” commemorating the talented athlete from Santa Cristina. Simona Senoner was a member of Sci Club Gardena and represented Italy in the Continental Cup, and her promising career was cut short by her sudden death in 2011. The local community decided to name the largest hill on Monte Pana after her.
Over the years, Monte Pana has become a permanent venue for youth competitions in ski jumping and Nordic combined. It regularly hosts stages of the Coppa Italia Giovani as well as national youth events, held both in winter and summer, when the jumping competitions are combined with cross-country or running events. The annual Simona Senoner Memorial, one of the most important events of the Italian junior calendar and often the final competition of the winter season, also takes place here. The event has been held for many editions and remains a key part of Sci Club Gardena’s activities.
Although Monte Pana is primarily a training center and a venue for national competitions, the hills have also hosted international youth events. In one such competition, young athletes from Italian and Austrian clubs took part, with Giovanni Bresadola among the standout jumpers.
The facilities are managed daily by experienced members of Sci Club Gardena, such as coach and competition director Romed Moroder and long-time hill chief Karl Runggaldier.

Laut der Ergebnisliste http://www.sciclubgardena.info/pdf/Ergebnisliste_SS.pdf vom 10. Juli 11 wurde die HS 35 m-Schanze in Simona Senoner-Schanze umbenannt.
