The Trampolino Nino Castelli was located at Piani dei Resinelli (Piani Resinelli) in the province of Lecco, on the edge of today’s Parco Valentino on the slopes of Monte Coltignone, at an elevation of about 1,300 metres above sea level. The facility was built in the early 1930s and was officially inaugurated on 17 January 1932. The hill was dedicated to Nino Castelli – a versatile athlete from Lecco, a rowing Olympian in 1920, and a medal winner at the Italian championships in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping.
On 31 March 1932, a national-level competition was held on the hill, during which a record distance of 26 metres was achieved. Local sources also mention “campionati nazionali” taking place here in 1934 and 1936. According to later accounts, the Nino Castelli hill was regarded for several years as one of the most important ski jumping facilities of its kind in the entire Alpine arc.
The hill was integrated into the natural slope within what is now Parco Valentino. Over the years it was abandoned, and its structures have completely disappeared; today only traces in the terrain remain, visible along the paths leading through the park to the belvedere overlooking the Lecco valley.
