History:

The ski jumping hill in Collio was located in the upper part of the village of Collio Val Trompia in Lombardy and for decades was an important element of local Nordic skiing. It was closely connected with Sci Club Collio, one of the oldest Italian ski clubs, founded in 1927, which was very active in cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined. Thanks to this, a strong and long-standing tradition of Nordic sports developed in Collio and nearby San Colombano, and the local facilities were regularly used for training and competitions.
The earliest confirmed references to the hill date back to 1935, when mountain press reported the modernization of an already existing facility, proving that the hill had been in use at least since the early 1930s. It is also known that on 19 March 1931 a ski jumping competition was held in Collio with the participation of leading athletes of the time, including the Olympian Luciano Zampatti, who finished third.
In the mid-1960s two new ski jumps were opened in Collio: a larger competition hill and a smaller training hill. In later years the site hosted jumps with K-points of approximately 50 and 25 metres. The importance of this centre is also confirmed by local accounts stating that the Italian Ski Jumping Championships were held here in 1968. For many years the facilities in Collio and San Colombano served as training grounds for Nordic combined athletes and ski jumpers, and the local sporting community produced several national champions. Over time, however, the hills were no longer maintained and were eventually abandoned; today the area of the former facilities is overgrown, although the name “Trampolino di Collio” still survives in local topography, referring to a section of the slope and the road that once led to the inrun area.
