History:

The construction of a ski jumping hill by the sportsmen of TG Großalmerode started in fall 1963 and finally Querenbergschanze could be inaugurated on February 21, 1965. The opening competition was won by Otto Guthardt from Eschwege with a record distance of 34 meters. Later in 1967 North-Hessian championships were hosted there and thus a judges' tower should be constructed and there was the idea to cover it with plastic mattings for summer use.
