The history of ski jumping in Bussang dates back to the 1920s, when local enthusiasts built the first earth-and-wood structure on the natural slope of Meuzelotte. Although the hill no longer exists today, it was once an important landmark on the winter sports map of the Vosges region.
In 1944, despite the ongoing Second World War, the Vosges Department Championships were held on Meuzelotte, confirming the prestige of the venue. In the years that followed, the facility was used for training and exhibitions, becoming the foundation for the later development of ski jumping in the area.
Today, there is no physical trace of the hill, but its existence is documented in archival postcards and local memories. Meuzelotte remains a symbol of the pioneering days of sport in Bussang – the place where it all began.
