In 1938, i.e. at the time of the biggest boom of ski jumping in Croatia, a jumping hill was also built in Gerovo. It was then only used for local athletes who wanted to practise there. 10 years later, in 1948, the facility was reconstructed and the renovation work was done by prisoners from the local barracks. After the reconstruction distances of 30 metres could already be reached, which were quite long jumps for Croatian conditions.
After another three years the ski jump had to undergo another reconstruction, this time initiated by Stjepan Janeš and at that time the very active sports club "Snježnik". The facility was then slightly enlarged to allow jumps of around 40 metres, thus popularising this spectacular sport in Gerovo and the surrounding area and attracting crowds to the competitions that were held there regularly every winter. As a result, Croatian championships were organised there several times, making the ski jumping hill, next to the arena in Delnice, the most important ski jumping centre of the whole country.
It was used until 1960's, at that time alpine skiing was becoming more and more attractive and people willing to jump were fewer and fewer. The facility was still used for a short time by children from Gerovo and the landing hill was used as a toboggan hill. Then the ski jump was abandoned, gradually overgrown with plants and its history was forgotten.
