History:

The first temporary ski jump in the 1954 built alpine ski center on Mont Carmel was set up in 1960 by Roland Lapointe, the owner of the ski area, together with a few ski jumpers. It allowed jumps up to 38 meters. The first competition on February 22nd, 1960 attracted 5,000 spectators! Then a larger, permanent ski jumping hill was built until December 1960. On January 23, 1961, Jacques Charland set the first hill record with 178 feet (54.3 m). In the 1960s, Olympians such as Jacques Ferland, Lucien Laferté, and Claude Trahan also jumped there. The last ski jumping competition on Mont Carmel took place in March 1970 and the following summer the hill was torn down.
Today there is still a biathlon training center there.
