In the small village Hammerbrücke in Vogtland not far from Klingenthal in 1965 the Thierbergschanze was constructed by volunteers as a 30 meter ski jump with wooden inrun.
Since there was an increase in interest of young jumpers in 1970's, the decision was made to reconstruct the ski jump and give it a new profile for junior jumper's education. So a smaller K22 hill with steel-made inrun tower was set up by 1979. Mean initiator of the conversion of the ski jump was the local sports teacher Siegfried Gläß, who had been responsible coach of the ski club until 1985 and trained many successfull sportsmen.
Most famous and successful sportsman of the club was Ralph Leonhardt, who later started for SC Dynamo Klingenthal and won a bronze medal as a Nordic Combined at WSC 1989 at Lahti.
From mid 1980's onwards the new club leaders followed other goals concerning wintersports and considered the nordic disciplines to elaborate for the small club.
Nowadays the hill has been overgrowing since 1993, but the ravages of time will nibble on the inrun construction still many years, because it is made of corrosion-resistant steel beams and coated profiled sheeting.
