History:

A ski jump and the flat country - fits only in Eilenburg. The jumpers opened their large flat country ski jumping hill in the lowlands of Leipzig in 1958 and at that time it was the first new-constructed plastic covered hill in Germany. On it jumps are possible around the 30 meters. 1994 however from safety reasons the jump had be removed. Some years there were only the two to smaller hills at disposal. After a fight of many years the ski jumper of the Ski club Lokomotive Eilenburg could on 6 November 1999 in the presence of world champion Jens Weißflog inaugurate their newly built ski jump. Beside country, district, city and sponsors in addition, the citizens took part over the component movement with 40,000 Marks in that 250,000 Marks expensive new building.
The national sport federation of Saxonia accepted the department of ski the status of a talent centre, too. From Eilenburg went already over 50 ski jumpers into the training centre to Oberhof.
