History:

Totenschanze was located near the Kurvenlift, an extraordinary constructed ski lift at Spitzingsee. It allowed distances up to 50 meters and was also used by Alpine skiers for special jump practicing. It is not clear where the name ("ski jump of the death one(s)") comes from, but a local myth says it comes indeed from a deadly accident.
