In 2009 Harbin was host of the winter universiade and then especially the sports events on snow took place at the Yabuli Ski Resort 190 km north of the metropole city.
During these games the K90 ski jumping hill, which is situated on over 1300 m altitude, was used for the competitions in ski jumping and Nordic combination. Additionally, in August 2006 the construction of a K125 ski jumping hill started and was completed in October 2008. Already in November 2007 the modernizations of existing K90 were finished. A new cableway for the jumpers was constructed, too.
By the way, Harbin and Yabuli are part of the world’s largest snow sculpture exposition, Heilongjiang International Snow Sculpture Expo.
