History:

The construction of the ski jumping hill on the Kanisfluh in Mellau was decided by the winter sports club in November 1935 and financed by the host of Bären guesthouse Josef Reinstadler. The Kanis-Schanze was designed by Hermann Kaufmann from Reuthe and was inaugurated on January 24th, 1937. Schwendiger from Dornbirn won with the record distance of 42 meters. Later, Alfred Metzler even jumped up to 48 meters - but broke both his legs! The ski jump was probably only used until World War II.
