History:

Pittsfield once had a local ski jumping hill built as part of the recreational Pinnacle Ski Area, located near the water tower on Pinnacle Road. The facility was established in the 1950s through the initiative of the Pinnacle Ski Club and the local Kiwanis Club chapter, and it was actively used at least until the late 1960s.
The hill had a K-25 size and was built on a wooden inrun tower. Its location allowed for a natural landing slope that also served as a recreational alpine skiing run. The complex was equipped with a simple rope tow that serviced both the jump and the downhill trails.
During the 1960s, club competitions as well as local and school youth events were organized here. The facility was one of many popular sites in the New England region at the time, similar to the ski jumps in Orono, Fryeburg, or Rumford.
Although the hill ceased to be used around the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, it remained in the memories of residents. According to accounts from local families, many fathers and grandfathers recalled Pinnacle as the place of their first skiing attempts. The facility has not survived to this day – all infrastructure was dismantled, and the site has become overgrown with forest. Today, the Pinnacle Ski Club focuses exclusively on cross-country and alpine skiing.
