Ski jumping at Sörbybacken has a rich history. The hill was already popular in the 1930s, and during the 1950s it hosted numerous competitions that attracted hundreds of spectators — moments that were captured in photographs still preserved in the Swedish digital archives. It also served as a source of income for the local sports club, Almby IK. However, over time, ski jumping lost popularity in Örebro, and the facility was eventually dismantled with no plans for reconstruction.
Today, the area where the Sörbybacken ski jump once stood has been transformed into a recreational center offering a variety of attractions: zipline, ropes course, paintball, bumper balls, and other activities for families and organized groups.
