The Panoramaschanzen Sennweid complex in Gibswil forms the lower part of the regional ski jumping centre Regionales Skisprungzentrum Zürcher Oberland, jointly operated by the clubs SC am Bachtel and SC Hinwil. The two small hills – HS25 (K23) and HS15 (K14) – are situated in the Sennweid valley, below the medium-sized Bachtelblick-Schanze (HS 67) in Fischenthal, together forming a coherent training complex.
The first hills in Sennweid were built in the mid-1980s as junior facilities. In 1997 they were rebuilt to profiles K28 and K14, serving young jumpers from clubs in the Zürcher Oberland region. A complete modernization took place between 2011 and 2012: the old structures were dismantled, new inruns and renovated landing areas were built, giving the hills their current sizes of HS25 and HS15. Both received plastic covering and floodlights, enabling year-round training. The official opening took place on 30 June 2012 during the Bachtel-Cup, with young athletes from all over Switzerland taking part.
Since then, the Panoramaschanzen Sennweid have become an important training centre within the Swiss-Ski structure. The venue regularly hosts youth competitions such as the Bachtel-Cup, Chäferlispringen, and events within the Helvetia Nordic Trophy / Swiss Nordic Trophy series, both in summer and winter. The hills also serve as a training base during national competitions on the larger Bachtelblick-Schanze, including the Swiss Championships and the OPA Games 2023.
Sennweid has also been the venue for promotional projects aimed at introducing children to ski jumping, such as the “Simon Ammann Jump Parcours” (2014), which involved hundreds of pupils from schools in the Zürcher Oberland region. The facility remains active and well maintained.
Among the jumpers connected with Sennweid is Dominik Peter, later an Olympian and Swiss national team member, who made his very first jumps on the small Panoramaschanze.
Both hills are part of the regional training centre RLZ Bachtelblick, which provides education for young athletes in ski jumping and Nordic combined.
