The ski jump was built in the early 1930s as one of the first projects of the newly established skiing section of Športni klub Kamnik, founded on 2 January 1931. Around a year later, an approximately 30-metre structure was constructed in the lower part of today’s Streliška Street, which at that time was an undeveloped area of the town. The facility quickly became a centre of local skiing activity – preserved photographs from 22 January 1933 document a ski jumping competition held on this very hill, with a large crowd and the panorama of Kamnik in the background. In later years, the complex included a larger hill with an approximate K-point of 40 metres and a smaller one around K20, situated on the wooded slope above Streliška Street.
The Kamnik ski jump became the place of the first jumping attempts for many young athletes from the town; in the recollections of one of Slovenia’s later national team members, Matjaž Kladnik, it appears as “the real ski jump in Kamnik,” where he made his first steps under the guidance of local coach Peter Osolnik.
After the Second World War, the importance of the hill gradually declined, and over the years it fell out of use. There are no definitive data regarding the date of its closure; it is only known that it ceased to serve a sporting function in the second half of the 20th century.
