History:

The ski jumping hill in Juršinci, located on the forested slope of Štampoh in the Prlekija region of northeastern Slovenia, is one of the most notable local venues for amateur ski jumping in the country. Its origins date back to 1986, when members of the local sports association ŠD Juršinci, together with residents of nearby villages, began constructing the first hill. The inaugural competition was held there in 1991, while the official opening of the facility followed in 1993. Two hills were built on the slope: a smaller K25 and a larger K45, both prepared exclusively for use on natural snow and created almost entirely through the voluntary work of the local community.
In the decades that followed, the hill became a centre of winter activity in Juršinci, with amateur competitions held regularly whenever snow conditions permitted. By 2018, more than twenty events had been organised, featuring mainly competitors from nearby towns and villages, usually divided into several age categories. These events attracted hundreds of spectators, and the unique atmosphere became part of the region’s sporting tradition. Besides the members of ŠD Juršinci, many enthusiasts contributed to maintaining the facility—among them long-time club president Kristjan Lovrec and David Kvar, who in 2021 took over responsibility for the hill and coordinated its renovation.
The facility has undergone several reconstructions. The 2006 renovation improved its technical condition, while the major redevelopment in 2021 focused mainly on the smaller K25 hill. It was extended by several metres, received a new profile, and was equipped with lighting to allow competitions to be held after dark in the future. At the same time, an increasing lack of natural snowfall was noted, which has often made hosting competitions impossible and in some seasons allowed only the smaller hill to be prepared. The larger K45 hill has since been taken out of use, while the renovated K25 remains active and ready for future events whenever conditions allow.
Many local amateur jumpers have been associated with the venue and have shaped its history over the years. During the 2018 competition, the winners included Jernej Polanec, Matej Kostanjevec, and Gabrijel Jelko Holc, though they are far from the only athletes to have left their mark on Juršinci’s ski jumping tradition. The record on the K45 hill is 45 metres, while the smaller hill has seen a jump of 28 metres, achieved in 2013. Despite its amateur character, such achievements and the long-standing dedication of the local community have made the Štampoh hill one of the most distinctive and longest-operating amateur ski jumping venues in Slovenia.
