Jogardsbakken was a small natural ski jumping hill located on a slope in the area of today’s Bjorli ski resort. The hill was built in connection with the activities of the Bjorli skilag club, founded on 30 July 1949. Local sources mention it as one of the first ski jumps in Gudbrandsdalen equipped with floodlights, which made it possible to hold evening competitions.
In the early 1950s, Jogardsbakken hosted regional competitions combining ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and slalom; in March 1950, around 190 participants from clubs between Lillehammer and Isfjorden took part.
The hill record of 38 metres was set in 1951 by Ola E. Enstad, one of the founders of Bjorli skilag. Enstad was among the leading local athletes in Nordic combined and ski jumping during the club’s early years. Already during the 1950 competition he received the prize for the best jumper in the combined event. He was also active in other sports – a member of Bjorli’s football team in the mid-1940s. His hill record remained unbeaten at least until 1955.
The later fate of the hill is not documented in available sources – it is only known that the facility was eventually dismantled, and today only a forested slope remains where Jogardsbakken once stood.
