Gledalen is a small complex of ski jumps and cross-country trails located on the northern edge of Stokmarknes, in the valley of the same name. It belonged to the Stokmarknes IL club and was part of a larger sports area where, since the late 1960s, cross-country trails and a slope for learning skiing and snowboarding have been developed.
According to the facility plan of Nordland Skikrets, the Gledalen ski jumps were built around 1970 and no longer exist today. In the following decades, the cross-country trails were modernised several times, among other things in connection with Stokmarknes IL’s preparations for hosting the Nord-Norsk Mesterskap in the early 2010s.
Today, the area of Gledalen is designated in the Hadsel municipality documents as Gledalen idrettsanlegg – a recreational and sports area that includes ski trails, a skileikanlegg (children’s ski area), and, in recent years, the developing Vesterålen Bike Park with a pump track and a network of MTB trails.
