Steine skole hoppbakke, locally known as “Minikollen”, is a small plastic-matted school ski jump located next to Steine Primary School in Bø, Vesterålen (Nordland), right beside the Bøhallen sports hall. The hill, with a K-point of 7 metres, was built in 2009 as part of the school’s surrounding sports and recreational facilities. Its construction was financed as a municipal nærmiljøanlegg project with funding of 82,000 Norwegian kroner, and a significant share of the work was carried out by the school itself.
The official opening of Minikollen took place in November 2009. During the ceremony, the first official jump was made by local pupil Erlend Robertsen. The ski jump was integrated into the school’s outdoor recreation area, which also includes a toboggan slope, multi-purpose sports field, illuminated cross-country trail, skateboard ramps and other outdoor activity installations. Steine skole provides a set of skis and poles for loan, which makes Minikollen primarily a facility for learning ski jumping and playing on skis as part of physical education activities.
