History:

Flatlandsbakken was the largest ski jumping hill in the municipality of Hjartdal (Vestfold og Telemark) and one of several local facilities in the Hjartdal valley. In the 1960s, Flatlandsbakken served as a venue for local ski jumping competitions in the Notodden–Hjartdal region. According to the Norwegian newspaper Telen, a team competition (the so-called femmanns pokal) was held here in 1962, in which the five-member team of Heddal IL, including Ivar Kvernstuen, took victory. On the same hill, on 12 February 1967, Kjetil O. Flatland set the hill record with a jump of 47.5 metres.
Nowadays, ski jumping activities in Hjartdal are centred around the newer Bjødrebakken complex operated by Hjartdal IL, while Flatlandsbakken is listed in archives as a demolished hill. Only the shape of the former slope remains visible in the terrain.
