History:

Slettebakken is a defunct ski jumping hill located on the outskirts of Prestfoss in the Buskerud region of Norway. It was built in 1960 on the initiative of the sports club Sigdal SK, which actively supported the development of skiing in the area for decades. The main hill had a construction point (K-point) of K60, accompanied by a smaller K32 hill.
In 1964, with support from local authorities, a night lighting system was installed. It cost 23,000 Norwegian kroner, of which 5,000 were granted by the Sigdal municipal council. This investment made it possible to hold training sessions and competitions after dark, which at the time was a significant improvement and reflected the hill’s importance in the region.
Slettebakken’s most active period was during the 1970s and 1980s. During this time, a judges’ hut and a so-called "warmebu" – a small shelter used for warming up and storing equipment – were also built.
Over time, use of the hill gradually declined. Around 2010, it ceased to be officially used, and most of the infrastructure was dismantled or deteriorated naturally. Despite this, Slettebakken was never completely forgotten. In winter seasons with good snow conditions, local enthusiasts still occasionally use the old hill. In January 2023, the local newspaper Bygdeposten published an article titled “Drømmeforhold i Slettebakken” ("Dream Conditions at Slettebakken"), describing excellent snow conditions and enthusiastic efforts by residents to temporarily revive the hill's sporting use.
