History:

The ski jump, located on the slopes of the Roßberg in the Mansfeld region of Saxony-Anhalt, was part of a local winter sports center which, during the GDR era, was regarded as a “Hochburg des Wintersports” – an important place for cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and ski jumping. Construction of the hill began in 1953, and its official inauguration took place in 1958, as confirmed by the memorial plaque still present at the site. The facility was used primarily for training and local winter events, although due to limited documentation, no specific competitions or names of athletes associated with the hill are known. According to archival data and information from the plaque, the hill record was 42 meters, but the name of the record holder remains unknown.
For decades, Annarode was an active winter sports center – nearby one could find cross-country trails, a toboggan run, and, from 1977, an asphalt roller track used for roller-ski training. The ski jump naturally complemented this complex, playing a role in the village’s vibrant sporting life. In 1990 the facility was dismantled due to the risk of collapse, and the area gradually became overgrown with forest. However, distinct traces of the former infrastructure are still visible today: the outline of the landing slope, remnants of the inrun, and terrain formations clearly indicating where the judges’ platform once stood.
