History:

For a long time there had been the wish of many skiing enthusiasts around Sebnitz to build a proper ski jumping hill. It finally came true on January 20, 1935, when the Grenzwinkelschanze at Hertigswalde was opened with great winter weather and a crowd of around 5,000 spectators. For this occasion, the Sebnitzer Schi-Zunft even created a poem (see images).
The 40 meter hill was re-opened after world war II on February 8, 1953. Over the years the ski jumping facility and its surroundings were continuously improved. Later the ski jump cabin was added and the hills were covered with plastic mattings. Development of young ski jumpers was very important at Dynamo Sebnitz and thus three training hills were built for the youngsters.
Due to these efforts, talented young athletes were regularily promoted to the sports club at Klingenthal. The most famous ski jumpers, who were initially trained at Sebnitz, were probably Gerd Siegmund, Heiko Hunger and Uwe Prenzel. Unfortunately, this tradition could not be continued for long after 1990 and the ski jumping facility fell into its current depression around 1996-1998.

LG An Alle!

Hallo,

@Steffen Schneider

Hallo Herr Schneider,
