History:

Since the demolition of the famous large Aschbergschanze, Klingenthal lacked a ski jumping hill of that scale, which already in 2000 prompted the local sporting community to consider building a new facility. These efforts were quickly turned into action, resulting in the construction of one of the world’s most modern ski jumps – the Vogtland Arena – on the slope of Schwarzberg in the Brunndöbra district, part of Klingenthal. The investment amounted to €14 million.
The arena, with a capacity of up to 30,000 spectators, was completed in autumn 2005. The inaugural jump of 128 meters was performed by German Nordic combined skier Björn Kircheisen. The first official competition – a Continental Cup in Nordic combined – took place at the beginning of 2006. Since then, Vogtland Arena has hosted numerous international events, including FIS World Cup competitions in men’s and women’s ski jumping as well as Nordic combined. The World Cup winter season has often been opened here, and the hill has gone down in history as the venue of Karl Geiger’s victories and record jumps (winter record: 146.5 m – Andreas Wellinger and Gregor Deschwanden, December 2023; summer record: 149.5 m – Marius Lindvik, 2018).
In April 2019, the Free State of Saxony provided €1.5 million for the construction of a permanent wind protection system, designed to improve athlete safety and eliminate the risk of cancellations, such as during the Summer Grand Prix in 2018. The total cost of the project was €1.8 million, with the remaining €300,000 covered by VSC Klingenthal. Work was completed in 2022 – the windscreen was fully installed, accompanied by modernization of the landing slope and surface.
However, Vogtland Arena is not only for ski jumpers. The venue regularly hosts cultural and sporting events in other disciplines. In February 2024, three outdoor ice hockey matches of the “Hockey Outdoor Triple” were held on the outrun, and in the summer of the same year the German STIHL Timbersports team championships – spectacular lumberjack sports competitions – took place there.

Die Schanze heißt seit dem 13.12.2025 offiziell "Harry-Glaß-Schanze in der Sparkasse Vogtland Arena". Oder kurz einfach "Harry-Glaß-Schanze".

Again Elena

http://www.skokipolska.pl/elena-runggaldier/
Does anybody know, if this is either a lie or a sensation? It would be the longest jump of a woman on a large hill, but is it just a claim or truth?

Elena 150 m

At skokipolska an inofficial record of Elena Runggaldier with 150 m is noted. Is there a chance to confirm this claim? What day, maybe witnesses... In my table I also include inofficial personal records, but only if it can be confirmed somehow. Greetings, Eberhard

Marius 149,5

Again, did he stand the jump? If so, it is a new (probably inofficial) record... :-)

Summer World Record?

147.0 m - Vegard Haukø Sklett (NOR) - 2011

Is that a summer world record, a longest jump on plastic mate in history?
