At Hohenstein-Ernstthal near Chemnitz, were the motorbike Grand Prix of Germany has been staged on Sachsenring racing course since 1934, there were once two ski jumping hill facilities.

Skiclub Hohenstein built the ski jumping hill at Klausmühle in Hainholz in early 1930's. Until World War II the ski jump had been quite popular.
