Thälerschanze, which was designed by architect Franz Beier from Düsseldorf, was built as a replacement for the larger of the two ski jumps at "Löhchen". The opening competition took place on January 23rd 1965 and was won by Ulrich Hoffmann from Olsberg, who jumped 29 and 31 meters.
In 1966, the district championships were held, which were he most important competitions during the short history of the ski jump. After only ten years of use, the activities were stopped and so the area overgrew.
In 2007, the area was cleared and an info board was installed.
