History:

The ski club Kaufbeuren was already founded in 1909 and in 1911 the first "ski course" with ski jumping at Mindelheimer Straße, as well as later at the slope at Märzisried, was held. In 1924 a permanent 15-meter ski jump was built at Mindelheimer Straße. In 1926, a new ski jump was set up at Steige in Oberbeuren, which was however destroyed in 1932. In the following year, Zwingerwaldschanze was built at its final location.
In 1949, it was converted into a 40-meter hill. The inaugural competition in 1950 was attended by 3,000 spectators (record distance was 41 meters). Another conversion into the first plastic covered ski jumping hill of whole Allgaeu took place in 1972 an in the following year a judges tower was added. However, during 1980s ski jumping activities in Kaufbeuren decreased and in 1992 the ski jump was deconstructed.
