History:

The Ebet-Schanze operated in the Ebet valley above Bermersbach, one of the hamlets of Forbach in the northern Black Forest.
Members of Turnverein Bermersbach built the facility over two years as volunteer work, and the municipality supported them by supplying timber and equipment. The ceremonial opening of the hill, combined with a blessing by the local clergyman, took place on 19 February 1956.
The inaugural competition gathered 16 jumpers from Forbach, Mitteltal-Obertal and Bermersbach. After the club chairman’s command “Schanze frei”, an opening jump was made and the contest was held. In the “Allgemeine Klasse”, Gerhard Großmann won with two jumps of 30 metres – this distance is regarded as the hill record.
According to the club’s chronicle, whenever winter conditions allowed, numerous ski events were organised here, including alpine competitions held on the slopes of the Ebet valley.
The Ebet-Schanze has not survived to the present day – only the outline of the landing slope, the former take-off area and an information board titled “Wintersport in Bermersbach” remain. The site of the former hill is now marked on hiking trails and serves as a popular viewpoint on walks from Forbach towards Ebet-Mühle and Roten Lache.
