In the autumn of 1937, the construction of a ski jumping hill, which should allow jumps of up to 50 meters, started on the 720-meter-high Sommerberg in Bad Wildbad. There was also a toboggan run and downhill slopes. The inauguration of the ski jump took place on January 15th, 1938 with the championships of the district of Pforzheim.
Even after World War II, the Georg-Steuer-Schanze was used until the 1960s.
Today, the Skizunft Wildbad still organizes the "Fassdaubenrennen" every year during carnival season, at which people also jump off a small hill.
