History:
In the interwar period, Morzine had two ski jumping hills. The first was built in 1925 on the slope behind the Grand Hôtel (later L’Hauturière) and was known as the Tremplin du Grand Hôtel. The second facility was located in the upper part of the town, on the hillside in the Vallée des Ardoisières, in the area of the hamlet of Les Avinières.
Local accounts mention this hill as being active in the 1930s, used by members of the Ski-Club de Morzine and jumpers training in the valley. It no longer exists today – the Ardoisières valley is now known mainly for its historical slate mining, farmsteads (including La Chèvrerie des Ardoisières in Avinières) and hiking and cycling routes.
