History:

The ski jump in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, located on the slope of “Le Pain de Sucre” near the town of La Mongie, was likely built in the 1930s. At that time, it was one of the larger ski jumps in the Pyrenees region. This facility was used, among others, by Yvonne Arène, a pioneer of women's skiing in France, who made jumps on this ski hill.
Yvonne Arène Cuillé (1901–1990) was an active athlete in the 1930s. After ending her sports career, she devoted herself to shepherding in the Campan valley, becoming one of the last traditional female shepherds in the Pyrenees. Additionally, in 1937, Charles Lacoste, then-president of the Alpine Club in Bagnères-de-Bigorre (CAF), obtained funding for the construction of a ski jump. Although the sources do not specify whether this referred to the same facility on “Le Pain de Sucre,” it indicates efforts to develop ski jumping infrastructure in the region at that time.
