The ski jump was built in 1968 in in area known as Voiraux (Voireaux), to the north of the village. The driving force behind the development of Nordic skiing in the municipality was local teacher Pierre Faivre, who, after returning from the Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble, persuaded the local authorities, led by Mayor Pierre Vionnet, to construct the jump. The facility, enabling jumps of up to around 40 metres, was officially inaugurated on a Sunday in January 1968, in the presence of the sub-prefect of Pontarlier, representatives of civil and military authorities, ski officials, and a large audience.
The hill quickly became an important venue for local competitions in the Jura massif, bringing together both young and senior jumpers from the region. However, contemporary municipal documents refer to it only as part of the sporting history of Vaux-et-Chantegrue; today, its sporting function has been taken over by the cross-country ski trails of the Haute-Joux / La Combe Noire area. In the vicinity of the former site, there is now a hunting lodge — the “Chalet du Tremplin” on Chemin de la Voireaux — whose name preserves the memory of the ski jump that once stood here.
