History:

Before World War II, at Oulu there were a ski jumping hill at Tuira, as well as a smaller training hill in the area of Lämsänjärvi or Kontinkangas. These hills were mainly used by the Finnish army.
Later there was a new ski jump in the area of the sports center at Raksila. It was situated on a small artificial hill and called Pikkukankaan or Välkkylän hyppyrimäki. In 1967-68, among others also the later World Champion of 1978 Tapio Räisänen practiced there.
