History:

The Pappila ski jumping hill was located on the forested ridge of Pappilankangas in the municipality of Taipalsaari. Known in Finnish sources as Taipalsaari, Pappilankangas, the hill had a construction point of K32. It was built in 1951, and its profile was redesigned in 1954.
The project was designed by Paavo Nuotio – an outstanding Finnish ski jumper, multiple national champion, and participant in the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz. Construction of the hill was carried out by a building crew selected through a tender process.
At Pappilankangas, national and regional competitions were held, both in ski jumping and in cross-country skiing events associated with the hill. Local documentation emphasizes that without this hill in Taipalsaari, it would not have been possible to organize nationwide skiing competitions.
The hill record was 32.5 m and was shared by three Finnish athletes: Heikki Hovi, Pentti Ryöppy, and P. Kuovo. All of them belonged to the regional elite, and Pentti Ryöppy also achieved high placements at the Finnish national championships in Nordic combined.
The hill was a wooden structure. The inrun was built from untreated round timber, which caused the construction to deteriorate quickly. For this reason, Pappilankangas was dismantled in the early 1960s.
