The ski jumping hill in Savitaipale (Mustalampi) was built in 1946 on the slope of Mustalampi thanks to the efforts of local activists such as Tatu Illukka and Tatu Poutiala. The facility was one of the largest in the Etelä-Karjala region and served as a venue for training and competitions for about 15 years. The hill record was 45 meters and was set by Pentti Ryöppy during the inaugural competition in 1947.
