History:
In the 1970’s the Czechoslovak ski federation decided on common the project of the Czech Ing. Belonoznik and the Swiss Grasser to build the Čertak. After the o.k. of the FIS until 1979 at Čertak (in English devil’s mountain) the sixth ski flying hill on the world was created. At the same time next to it the large hill K120 was constructed and for this measure over 200,000 m³ of soil had to be removed.
In March 1980 the giant hill was opened during a ski flying week. In 1983 it had the first ski flying world championships with around 60,000 spectators. But in the following years the flying hill was criticized very much. Bad fallings were frequent and the air position at flying was to high with up to 12 m and so the FIS blocked the jumping facility. But this lack did not only concern this jump. Experts noticed at that time that a maximal air position of 5 m height is much safer for the jumpers and, however, large widths could be reached if the profile of a jump was adapted.
It was a fundamental realization in the way of building ski jumps and the up-coming V-style made profile changings necessary for nearly all jumps worldwide. Belonoznik reconstructed the flying hill from 1989 to ’92 according to newest standings, whereby the K-Point was changed on 185 m and a wind protection wall was installed. In 1996 Andreas Goldberger was the first one in an official competition to jump over the magic two 200 meter line on this jump with his 204 m.
In late summer 2009 floodlights were installed in order to be able to host further attractive competitions in the future on the Ski Flying WSC hill of 1983, 1992, 2002 and 2014 and the large ski jumping hill.
In preparation for the Ski Flying World Championships in 2014, the infrastructure around the hills was significantly improved already in 2012 and new spectator stands set up. Since then the ski jumping area with flying and large hill is called "Adidas Arena".
In 2011 and 2013, World Cup ski flying competitions were held on the K185 ski flying hill, and in 2014 it hosted the FIS Ski Flying World Championships. These championships – heavily disrupted by wind and partly cancelled – became the last major event ever staged on the hill. Afterwards, the K185 was closed, and no competitions have been held there since. Over the years, its structure has visibly deteriorated, as documented by numerous photos and reports.
The large K125 hill had in practice fallen out of use already around 2011. After 2014, it became – like the K185 – an inactive and neglected facility.
Despite the progressing decay, these hills began to reappear in modernization plans. Between 2020 and 2025, projects were developed for the reconstruction of the entire upper section of the complex, including, among other elements, the revitalization of steel structures and the adaptation of the large hill to a new profile allowing for longer jumps. In July 2025, the symbolic reconstruction of the former K125 was initiated, but shortly afterwards the work was halted due to disputes between the town, the national ski federation, and the site operator. As a result, by the end of 2025 all hills remain closed, and despite existing projects and declared intentions, their future remains uncertain.

Being situated next to the polish border, Harrachov is the cradle of ski jumping in Giant Mountains. In the little town in northern Czechia in the nature reserve “Riesengebirge” (Giants Mountains) long time German was spoken. Harrachov is only 20 km away from Jablonec and 30 km from Liberec.

Można tam latać ponad 200 m.A wiem to bo sam tworzę skocznie na prąd w Fzp. Nowa Polska. com. Mam taką skocznię w szwedzkim Lahtesal, na której rekord wynosi 181,5 m, i należy do młodego norwega M. Lindvika. Punkt k wynosi tam 158 m.
Mam 5.5 lat i bardzo interesuje sie skokami narciarskimi.
