History:

In Hořice, a small village above Blansko, the first ski jumping hill with a 4 meter high wooden inrun tower was built in 1948. Over the years the ski jump had been converted several times and a second platform was added onto the tower. However, the hill was still unsatisfactory and in 1953 a new, 10 meter high tower was built and also the hill profile was modified with a wooden knoll. In this way, the hill record was pushed to 29 meters. However, the tower was severely damaged by a thunder storm in January 1955.
The members of the club Spartak Metro Blansko the reconstructed the hill with a new, slightly smaller inrun tower and with steel reinforcements. The 25-meter hill had been used until around 1965 and was deconstructed around 1970. Nowadays, only a small ski lift still exists at this location. Worth mentioning is that Ludvík Daněk, Olympics gold medal winner in discus throwing in Munich 1972, was born in Hořice in 1937 and also jumped on this ski hill when he was young.
