History:

During the 128th IOC session at Kuala Lumpur on July 31, 2015 the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in 2022 were awarded to Beijing. For the very first time a city will become host of both Summer and Winter Olympic Games (in 2008 and 2022, respectively). The master plan of the organizing committee planned to stage the snow sports competitions in the region of Zhangjiakou city, which is located in Heibei province around 180 km north-east of Beijing. With an altitude of more than 1500 meters, Zhangjiakou is already now a winter sports destination with a number of ski ressorts. Nevertheless, for the Winter Games almost all sports venues have to be built from scratch.
The Nordic Winter Sports Centre will be constructed near Guyangshu village, including a ski jumping facility. The costs of the Olympic ski jumping hills only were originally estimated at more than 60 million US dollars. The architectural design of the ski jumps is resembling a Ruyi scepter, a Chinese talisman, which is why the facility is being called "Snow Ruyi". At the jump head there will be a 40 meter high, circular viewing platform with a diameter of 80 meters that will include a panoramic restaurant.
Construction phase of the ski jumping venue started in 2017 and was supposed to be completed already in 2019. However, due to the unconventional location of the ski jumping hill in a well in between two hills, the elaborate works were only completed in November 2020. The Olympic ski jumping stadium was then inaugurated with a celebration on December 21, 2020. One month later, on January 19, 2021, also China's president Xi Jinping visited the Olympic sports facilities at Zhangjiakou. Due to the Covid pandemic, all international test events in the 2020-2021 season had to be canceled. After the Games, the ski jumping facility shall serve as a national training centre, potentially also including to be built junior hills.

Now there is an official hill record, in the OWG Qualifying Robert Johansson jumped 103 meters.

Hello,

The pictures show that there are many floodlights on the masts. Do You know what are lighting levels for television transmission on this object?
Would be gratefull for some details.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am a master student of the faculty of architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Aufgsburg, Germany.
For my master’s degree I am analyzing the ski jump of the 2022 Olympic Games.
Unfortunately i can only find little informations about the projekt.
I wouled be very pleased if i couled get more detailed informations about the Snow Ruyi National Ski Jumping Centre. I would be particularly happy if I could be provided with rough architectural plans or if I could get in touch with someone who can give more detailed informations about the building.
