Ski jump construction works on Velikanka at Planica begin
on 2011-07-12
Already in February 2011 the decision for the construction of "Planica Nordic Center" was made, but after a lot of delays only now bulldozers can come and start of with the modernization of "Bloudkova Velikanka" large hill.
As already reported, the first concrete plans for the modernization of the ski jumping center at Planica were already made in 2010. At the beginning of this year the decision on the realization of the all in all 25m Euro expensive Nordic Center was made in order to make an application of Slovenia for Nordic WSC 2017 possible.
The assignments for the first works to be carried out, the complete modernization of K130 large hill, which had been dilapidating for 10 years already, and K90 jump, should be made. But in spite of uprootings already taking place, several delays screwed up the schedule and so the contracts worth 6.25m Euro could only be settled in end of June and finally signed on last Friday.
ZSRS Planica's manager Jelko Gros could confirm on www.siol.net that today on Tuesday the works on both ski jumping hills are about to start and should be completed by 2012.
This first step of Planica Nordic Center includes both new ski jumping hills HS 135 and HS 105, including inrun towers, warming room, chair lift and judges tower. The renovations of the smaller hills and Letalnica ski fyling hill shall then follow in later phases of the project.
