History:

The first ski jumping hills at Beloit were already used in late 1920’s, while in 1936 a mighty 60 meter hill with steel-made inrun tower was constructed. At competitions in 1940’s Torger Tokle first set up a record distance of 212 feet (64.6 m), in 1948 Art Daggett Jr. improved it on 221 ft. (67.4 m). In these days even many European world class ski jumpers competed in tournaments at Big Hill Park. In 1955 ski jumping activities had stopped and only few years later the steel inrun tower was removed and built up again at Westby for the 64 m hill.

Fehler
