History:
In 1924 John Satre and his brothers immigrated from Norway to Salisbury and one year later the passionate winter sports men founded Salisbury Outing Club. On 1927-01-29 the first ski jumping competition on Satre Hill was hosted. Even the national championships were then organized in 1933.
After the ski jump had been unused during times of World War II, the ski club was refounded as SWSA in 1945. A big conversion of the ski jumping hill followed in 1950 in order to host the Eastern Nationals in 1952.
To be able to provide good training conditions for young jumpers and host national competitions, the complete reconstruction of the K64 jump has started in 2010. The old wooden tower was replaced by a steel inrun construction and already in February 2011 the "U.S. Junior Olympics" were be organized on the 700'000 US$ expensive new K70 jumping hill. In 2011 the junior jumps shall be covered with plastic mattings.
