In 1930's Wrightwood / Big Pines was a stronghold of ski jumping in the north of Los Angeles. Both towns commonly applied for the Olympic Winter Games 1932, which were finally hosted at Lake Placid. While even world class jumpers participated in competitions at Big Pines, the ski jump at Blue Ridge / Mountain High ski area was a bit smaller.
