History:

At Borovnica, 20 km south-west of Ljubljana, the construction of a ski jumping hill started in 1947 and it could already be inaugurated in the following winter. Despite of a lack of financial means for ski jump hill preparation and equipment the local ski jumpers competed with great idealism and enthusiasm. Until the end of 1960’s some talented jumpers could emerge and the hill record on the ski jump was at 26 meters.
In 1970’s a new generation of ski jumpers came up and also a new ski jumping hill called “Pokojiška Velikanka” was constructed. The best ski jumpers of these times, Tone Debevec and Brane Mihevc, even went for training to Logatec where they had already a plastic covered hill. Also the ski jumping hill was improved several times so that the hill record could be shifted up to 33.5 meters.
After another ski jump conversion in 1983 the first competition organized by SSK Logatec could be organized and with 34 meters a new hill record was set up. In 1986 the ski jump was enlarged to K38 under the lead of Otto Giacomelli and one year later a junior jumping hill was set up. Even the covering with plastic mattings of both jumps could be done in 1989 and another children’s hill was completed. During youth competitions in these times later ski jumping internationals like Primož Ulaga, Primož Peterka or Peter Zonta competed on the bakken of Borovnica.
In 1991 the inrun tower could be replaced by a new wooden structure, but with increasing frequency competitions were cancelled due to mild winters. In the end 1990’s ski jumping activities finally ended.
