History:

Engaru is situated in Okhotsk area in north-eastern Hokkaido and was once an important traffic point and center of forest industry.
The Setoseyama ski jump was inaugurated in 1962 and in the same year the Japanese Prince Takamatsu was on holiday in the spa and ski resort of Setose. During the opening competition Japanese international Kikuchi Sadao jumped on 45 meters. The jump was surrounded by dense coniferous forest and due to the good snow quality it could be operated until end of April every year.
However it was shut down together with the ski resort in 1975. Inrun and judge’s tower are still relicts of the former ski jumping activities.
