History:
The construction of a first ski jumping hill in upper part of Schwartenberg (789 m) at Neuhausen was done in 1925 by the winter sports department of civic gymnastic club Neuhausen. This ski jump had a natural inrun and the upper landing hill was a wooden construction, just as many other jumps at that time. Jumps on around 25 meters were realized there and on the short time later built hill of local workers sports club (also at Schwartenberg) only 20 meters were possible. Beside the traditional Schwartenberg Run (18 km cross-country skiing), regular Christmas and Easter competitions were organized. When the district championships of district for of Saxony were given to Neuhausen for a first time in 1934, the club decided to enlarge the ski jump.
After the war the jump was repaired in 1951, but only used for youth training and competitions. With the construction of the large ski jumping hill of Neuhausen situated directly near the town, interest in the hill declined and only in 1963, when the construction of about 3 km away Rauschenbach dam began, the sports leaders took the opportunity to rebuilt Schwartenbergschanze. Closer to the town, in the area above the cinema the new K48 Schwartenbergschanze with plastic covering and steel inrun tower was constructed. Unfortunately it was just used for a single seniors competition, in which some national team members took part and a sports accident happened. This fracture of a jumper’s leg led into the proscription of the jump, because of its bad conditions in the outrun.
In 1972 the GDR pupils championships were the last larger competition on this hill and from middle 80’s on ski jumping activities were in decline. Since the political turnover in 1989 the jump was no more used. In June 2010 some teenagers deconstructed the meanwhile very rusty steel-made inrun tower.
