In the year of 1950 25 Norwegians came to North-London with 45 tons of snow in their luggage, in order to host there a ski jumping competition. On March 24, 1950 18,000 spectators attended one and on 25th totally 52,000 visitors two competitions, which were hosted together by the Ski Club of Great Britain and the Oslo Ski Association.
On March 25th the two traditional universities Cambridge and Oxford, that won, competed against each other on the ski jumping facility and also the London city championship was held and won by the Norwegian Arne Hoel. Unfortunately there was never again a jumping competition like this one.
